I am shortly about to get 1996 TE EXECUTIVE and was wondering what a good first mod would be.

Im still in school and thus don't have alot of money. I was looking at performance and looks mods but have no idea where to start.

P.S TBuTcher where did you get your bonnet and how much did it cost?

    1. 2.5" Lukey straight through muffler. Mine was $200 fitted, inc tip.
    2. Lowering, New King Springs, ~$400 - won't give you more power, but will sure let you take corners faster. Then again, no offencse intended, being at school, you've only just got your P's? Might be a good idea not to try cornering fast until you've gotten used to driving. Really does make the car a lot more stable. (and better at scraping on things )
    3. K&N Panel Filter. ~$130

Then Extractors. But that's upwards of $500.

And I'd probably hold off on new wheels until you've mastered parallel parking. Scratching the left front wheel is so easy when your new at it (again no offense or anything)

TBuTcher made is own bonnet - absolute master piece! I'm sure he'll give you the run down on it

driver put it in a nut shell for you!
One you've done those mods and you're ready to start messing with the handling/stability of the car. Don't forget strut braces.. they help quite a bit, definetely suggest getting a front and rear strut brace!

Mitsiman works at RPW in Perth and he sells all of that stuff.

Also another mod, now that RPW was mentioned. HiFlow Throttle Bodies, they machine your throttle body in such a way that it doesn't mess with any other components and doesnt set ya computer off to go haywire. Thats my limited knowledge of engines/mechanical components etc. But its definetely worth looking and seeing what other people have done and what gains they have made from different setups. eg. Redav has a Lukey Muffler and a K&N Panel and he kicked some 3.5s on the dyno. Thats top-end though, don't rush into making any decisions that will cost you money and be in-effective.

Redev's car - in stock form - still did quite well though! (He unbolted the muffler/panel and did another run as stock)

just cut ya springs....that will save u money! weld a metal bar from strut to strut and that will stiffn the front end up nicely for drifting those hard to drift corners! hehe

*this is a joke...if you really take this advice then u have problems. hehe

Problem with the above post is that ppl do cut springs then end up wrapped around a tree or another car when the front end falls out.

    P platter + mods = cop bait

i'd suggest you get some ice, prolly spring, and leave any performance mods until you can really handle the car. stock magna isn't that bad in term of performance

    just my 2c....

So what if its cop bait.. as long as you don't do anything stupid.. whether cop bait or not, let them check your car for defects.. no need to worry because you havent got any defects. Not having a go at MagnaBishi or anything.. Just wanna make sure you don't do any stupid/illegal mods that will make ur vehicle defectable!

    Thanks for the feedback.

I don't really car if in cop bait, I will do everything legally and they will only be wasting time searching my car for defects.

What kind of difference can I expect to see for K&N?

And does anyone know how much a decent set of rear and side lights cost(liek the once in the DIY section)?

I might also add that it's the 3L not the 2.4L
